Microsoft Windows 10 has well passed Windows 8 in terms of popularity for Valve’s userbase.

With Windows 10 barely being released for over 3 months, it already represents for over 25% of Steam’s active users. According to digital storefront’s hardware survey, just last month, almost 28% of Steam users ran some version of Windows 10.

Winbeta said that that’s about 3% up from September, and that is already 8% above August. Microsoft was quite generous to users of Windows 7 and Windows 8 because anyone with those operating systems were able to get free upgrades to Windows 10 starting the past July.

In the past few months, Windows 10 has moved on to being the second most popular operating system on Steam, just behind Windows 7 only because it has a greater share of user base. Legacy OS accounts for over 36% for its 64-bit version, and 8% in its standard release.
