Sony had quite a successful first quarter of 2015 with the PlayStation 4 selling 3 million consoles in the first three months of 2015. This amounts to an amazing $160 million in profit out of an overall $2.365 billion revenue amount for Games and Network Services.
In less than two years, 25.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles were sold. It took two years and eight months for the PlayStation to sell 20 million units. With the PlayStation 2 being the best selling console of all time with 155 million units sold, it’s quite possible that the PS4 will beat the PS2 to take the title as the PS4 continues to be Sony’s fastest selling console.
To top it off, due to a dropping production cost for PS4 hardware, there has been a 350% growth in operating income with a 12% increase in sales from the same period last year.
