Cursed .50 BMG Gun The Whizzbanger Animated in Blender

0% realism, 100% fun.

Ranon "hyper" Sarono, a world-renowned 3D Weapons Animator, has returned with a bang, both figuratively and literally, following a five-month hiatus, unveiling an animated tribute to one of the most iconic "cursed guns" humanity's eccentric mind has ever conceived – The Whizzbanger.

For those who may not know, The Whizzbanger was born on the now-closed Pimp My Gun website, and is perhaps the most impractical and frankly dangerous firearm one can imagine. Comprised of a few sheets of metal, a firing pin, and a grip, this monstrosity is chambered in .50 BMG and requires the shooter to strike the pin with a hammer to fire.

Staying true to the original meme design, which was in and of itself a patchwork of various ideas, Ranon created his shooting and reloading animations by combining assets from different sources, including models from Escape from Tarkov, Lillya, and lumoize, a rig from DogSayingWoosh, a rig model from Insurgency Sandstorm, and sounds from a variety of games. The entire production process took place in Blender.

And here are some of Ranon's earlier weapon animations:
