DreamWorks & Story Kitchen Partner To Bring More Games to Big Screen

Prepare to see more of your favorite game characters and narratives in a new, immersive format.

If you've ever dreamed of seeing more of your favorite games leap onto the big screen, then this news is sure to excite you. Story Kitchen and DreamWorks Animation have joined forces in a strategic partnership, paving the way for more beloved games to be transformed into cinematic experiences.

According to a report from Deadline, Story Kitchen, an innovative media firm established in 2022, will source distinctive video game IPs under this collaboration. DreamWorks Animation will then have the first opportunity to adapt these into animated films for worldwide audiences. This collaboration is notably concurrent with Story Kitchen's TV first-look deal with Amazon.

Although Story Kitchen is relatively new, having been established less than two years ago, it brings a wealth of industry experience to the table as the company was founded by Dmitri Johnson, the producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog film, and Derek Kolstad, the writer of John Wick.

Just last month, Story Kitchen announced two key projects. In collaboration with Black Salt Games, they are set to transform the acclaimed game DREDGE into a live-action film. In addition, the upcoming action game SPINE is scheduled for a live-action feature film adaptation.

DreamWorks Animation, known for its renowned projects such as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, is a leading animation studio in the film industry.

Although no adaptations are presently in the works, Story Kitchen and DreamWorks Animation are poised to reveal new projects soon, according to Deadline.
