Elden Ring Dev Sees Room for Improvement as Players Seek Guides

"we try to cater to the player who is completely blind and wants to go through organically."

ELDEN RING

The upcoming release of Elden Ring's sole DLC, coupled with the developer's recent reminder to players who haven't yet qualified to unlock it, has likely prompted many players to return to the Lands Between. I anticipate that these players are actively searching the internet for guides to accelerate their progress.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware's boss, expressed his understanding of players using guides, as he said in an interview with PC Gamer:

"Of course players are going to consult guides, and there's going to be a wealth of information on the web and in their communities where they have access to the secrets and strategies. We expect that."

This affirmation from the developers might reassure some players, particularly those who often have quite a few tutorial tabs open while playing. However, he continued to claim that the studio didn't design the game with that assumption.

"... we don't make or plan anything with that as a prerequisite. If anything, we try to cater to the player who is completely blind and wants to go through organically. If they can't do it, then there's some room for improvement on our behalf, and we'd like to try to embrace those players more in the future."

Regarding the upcoming DLC, those concerned about having to rely heavily on guides or forums should know that the developers are confident that you "will be able to continue, find these secrets and overcome these challenges."
