The Pixomondo Team Discussed Working on the Halo TV Series

The team explained how they used MattePaint's HDRIs to set up the show's environments.

MattePaint, a team of developers known for creating an enormous library of HDRIs for VFX, games, and ArchViz, has recently published a compelling interview they conducted with the Pixomondo team. For those unaware, Pixomondo is an award-winning virtual production, visualization, and VFX company founded way back in 2001 in Germany. The team worked on many TV series and movies, including, but not limited to, Star Trek Into Darkness, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, The Boys, and countless others.

In the newly-published interview, the studio talked about the environment creation process behind some of the scenes from the 2022 Halo TV series. The studio's Head of Virtual Art Department Mujia Liao and Matte Painting Supervisor Dieter Magallan discussed how they used HDRI sequences provided by MattePaint to help expand the popular game to a show, touched upon the Timelapse nature of the HDRIs, spoke about the challenges they faced, and explained how MattePaint's assets helped them save time during the production.

You can check out the full interview by visiting MattePaint's blog. Also, don't forget to join our Reddit page and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
