The Witcher-Like 3D Marshland Scene That Looks Like a Real-Life Oil Painting

Robert Redecki imagined a dark and magical swamp using Blender and UE5.

3D Environment Artist Robert Redecki continues his recently started series of outdoors-inspired digital scenes by presenting Marsh – Before the Storm, a stunning marshland environment that, at first glance, can easily be mistaken for a real-life oil painting.

Featuring detailed, painterly-style assets and an overcast lighting setup, Robert's new scene evokes dark and magical vibes similar to those one might feel while exploring the world of The Witcher 3. As for the software and tools, the creator utilized ZBrush, Blender, and Substance 3D Designer to model and texture the scene's assets, such as rocks, boats, and vegetation, Unreal Engine 5 to render the final environment, Epic Games' Water Planes collection to set up the water, and Poly Haven's Quarry Cloudy HDRI for the sky.
