Ubisoft Announced a New Title in the City-Builder Franchise Anno

"Aiming to be the biggest, most detailed Roman simulation to date."

Ubisoft

The Ubisoft Forward 2024 showcase not only provided updates on previously announced games such as Assassin's Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, and Skull and Bones, but also surprised us with unexpected announcements.

Anno, a beloved city builder franchise, is slated to welcome a new installment next year — Anno 117: Pax Romana. It “will take the city-building franchise all the way back to Ancient Rome” with a story background set in the year 117AD as the name hints. The live-action teaser trailer didn’t unveil gameplay or in-game art, however, it does give us some hint about what to expect from the game. Check it out:

The phrase "build it" that repeatedly plays in the background of the video appeals to those who enjoy the core gameplay of the franchise. In addition to the trailer, an introduction to the game is provided on the official website:

"Aiming to be the biggest, most detailed Roman simulation to date, Anno 117: Pax Romana follows the Anno franchise's traditional emphasis on construction, not destruction. As governor, you'll be able to build up a province in Latium or the Celtic land of Albion as you see fit, managing everything from aqueducts to naumachia naval battles in your coliseum, and whether you spread Roman culture or adopt Celtic traditions will be up to you."

Ubisoft

Anno 117: Pax Romana is set to launch in 2025 and will be available on multiple platforms, including PC via Ubisoft Connect, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna. The game will also be included in the Ubisoft+ Premium subscription. As the game's release is some time away, we can anticipate further updates in the future.
