A Fan Brought The Electric State to Life

Ilya Plotnikov animated Simon Stålenhag’s world from The Electric State, and you don’t want to miss it.

The artist basically put some motion to the art from the artbook The Electric State and used music that Stålenhag composed and released online. The film doesn’t cover the whole book, but the atmosphere is perfect.

The original story is set in an alternate 1990s where a runaway teenager and her toy robot took a road trip across the post-apocalyptic United States. The world of The Electric States is different that Tales from the Loop and Things from the Flood, which tell stories from an alternate Sweden.

In the meantime, there’s also a film adaptation of the book in the works, Avengers: Infinity War’s Russo Brothers confirmed during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that they’re still working on the project.
