Adobe Reveals Project Sharp Shots

Powered by Adobe’s Sensei AI platform, the new research project uses AI to deblur videos.

During its MAX conference, Adobe presented a number of research projects they’re working on for the Creative Cloud apps. One of the projects is dedicated to videos and it’s called Project Sharp Shots. Powered by Adobe’s Sensei AI platform, the research project focuses on using AI to deblur videos.

The main goal is to deblur a video to help users deal with a shaky camera and fast movement, with a single click. The effect can be quite dramatic, especially if you’re capturing fast-moving vehicles or other objects.
The team noted that the new algorithm doesn’t require tweaking parameters, so it’s just a one-click thing.

The project is powered by deep learning and AI working in the background, extracting each frame, and deblurring if needed.

Adobe states that they optimized the whole thing for lower-memory usage and speed. The new algorithm uses multiple related frames before and after, but it can also just a handful of frames to deblur a video.
