African Digital Creatives Hack Climate Change This June

Join an annual one-week conference for African Digital Creatives, aimed at raising awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as providing training and support to African creatives.

This June, creatives from across Africa and the world, would be Hacking for Good in the maiden edition of the E-Africa challenge. The E-Africa Challenge is an annual one-week conference for African Digital Creatives, aimed at raising awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as providing training and support to African creatives who would go further to become ambassadors of the SDGs, as well as launch sustainable projects and startups that promote their realization.

This year, the theme is focused on Climate Change. Africa is home to one-third of the world’s tropical rainforests. Though Africa accounts for only 2–3% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions from energy and industrial sources, It is a cruel irony that the continent is in line to be the hardest hit by the resulting climate changes.

The program would feature various informative sessions around Climate Change, sustainability, and entrepreneurship (online short courses, workshops, fireside sessions, etc) and a design Hackathon to create projects that would help tackle identified issues. The program is set to run from the 21st to 27th, June 2021 and feature an array of projects ranging from games, animation, videos, art, illustration, XR, and more, which are expected to be created.

The E-Africa challenge is organized by Africacomicade in collaboration with jiwe studios, Johana Riquier, Creatives Nest Foundation, Sustory.fi, and many other organizations.

If you are interested in participating in the challenge you can register here or visit the Africa Comicade website for further inquiries.
