Allan McKay Breaks Down The Mummy VFX

Allan McKay has shared a video that discusses the VFX work of ILM behind the 1999 Mummy.

The specialist broke down the process behind the visual effects of the film process, discuss production details from the perspective of a VFX Supervisor. The video presents an excellent comparison of the creation process back in the days and the way VFX artists are working today.

The visual effects for the movie were originally created by the legendary ILM team using Maya and a number of proprietary tools (CompTime, Carrie, and other software solutions).

"Whether you're using Autodesk 3DS Max, Houdini, Maya or other tools - many of these techniques are easily achievable these days with a bit of knowledge behind you," noted the researcher. "What I want to discuss is a lot of the creative process, as well as technical feats at the time of the movie's release."
