Anthony O Donnell's New Tutorial on Texel Density

The creator shared a few more notes on the benefits of Texel Density and how to use it to figure out an appropriate texture size.

3D Artist and Art Director Anthony O Donnell, known to many as the author of Texel Density and Other Bits of Texture Theory, a comprehensive 90-pages-long tutorial on creating textures for games with a focus on Texel Density, has recently released one more guide dedicated to the topic of TD.

The new tutorial, published as a collection of four images, focuses primarily on the benefits of Texel Density and how to use it to figure out an appropriate texture size, with the artist thoroughly explaining how to make UV shells consistent, showing how to scale all the UV shells to suit a texture size, discussing his approach to buildings, and sharing lots of valuable tips and tricks along the way. As a bonus, Anthony explained how to get a trim element to hit the target Texel Density with the help of Maya's TD tool. You can access the full tutorial by clicking this link
