The company registered a scene camera and an adjustable lens system.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has recently granted Apple two Head Mounted Device (HMD) patents. The first involves a mixed reality headset using a 'scene camera', a part of a holographic direct retinal projector system. The system is meant to mesh views of the real-world and augmented reality imagery merge seamlessly. The second patent is an adjustable lens system making sure that real-world and AR content stay aligned at all times.

The company plans to use the new system for different applications including the ones that add virtual content to the viewer's environment, generate 3D virtual worlds, games, drones, and more.

The first patent discusses a scene camera that allows devices to capture images of the real-world scene in front of the user. The images may be studies to locate edges and objects in the scene. Such images will also allow device to determine depth information for the scene

The second patent involves an optical system and devices with tunable lenses. The patent describes a head-mounted device that may be a pair of virtual reality glasses or an augmented reality headset allowing you to view both computer-generated images and real-world objects in real-life environments.
