Arcane Triumphs at the 2022 Annie Awards

The animated series took the awards in all nine categories for which it had been nominated.

The critically acclaimed Netflix series Arcane, which premiered last November, has won the most trophies at the recent Annie Awards. The ceremony was held last Saturday and featured more than 30 different categories, with nearly 80 unique participants.

The animation series based on the League of Legends universe was carried out by Fotiche Production and its huge success within the audience increased the popularity of the Riot Games multiplayer online battle arena video game. A month after its premiere, Arcane received nine nominations for the Annie Awards 2022, and finally, it took the awards in all the categories for which it had been nominated.

Here are all the categories in which Arcane has won a trophy during the 49th Annie Awards: 

  • Best TV/Media – General Audience (“When These Walls Come Tumbling Down”)
  • Best Character Animation – TV/Media (“The Monster You Created”)
  • Best Character Design – TV/Media (“Some Mysteries Better Left Unsolved”)
  • Best Direction – TV/Media (“The Monster You Created”)
  • Best Production Design – TV/Media (“Happy Progress Day!”)
  • Best Storyboarding – TV/Media (“When These Walls Come Tumbling Down”)
  • Best Voice Acting – TV/Media (Ella Purnell as Jinx in “When These Walls Come Tumbling Down”)
  • Best Writing – TV/Media (“The Monster You Created”)

Arcane competed against such 2021 animated series as Love, Death & Robots, Star Wars: Visions, and Castlevania. It also surpassed The Mitchells vs. The Machines, which won the award in eight categories, including Best Feature Film.

The Annie Awards is organized by the branch of the International Animated Film Association of Los Angeles, ASIFA-Hollywood, and is known as Oscars for animated films.
