In a surprising turn of events Autodesk recently reported about cutting down its workforce 13%, which means that about 1200 people will be left out of work. The company employs over 9000 people all around the world. she Shares of Autodesk fell more than 12 percent after the annoucement.

Most recently there was a big change of management in the company. Andrew Anagnost took over as CEO of the company in June. Carl Bass retired, after heading the company for over 10 years.

“As we enter the growth phase of our model transition, we need to re-balance investments to focus on our strategic priorities. This includes divesting from some areas and increasing our investment in others.”

The official position is that these cuts are “not a cost reduction activity”. There’s no information as to which departments were hit by cuts.
