Autodesk Has Shipped 3ds Max 2022.2

The update features upgrades to Smart Extrude, optimizes Scene File save performance, fixes multiple issues, and more.

Autodesk has released a new and improved version of their 3D modeling and rendering software for design visualization, games, and animation – 3ds Max 2022.2. The update focuses on a safe and secure workspace environment, workflow efficiency, and enhanced modeling tools.

What's new:

  • Optimized Scene File Save Performance: Scene file save performance has been greatly improved.
  • Improved UV Editing: Peeling, packing, and relaxing of UVs now use the Unfold3D algorithm inside of the Unwrap UVW modifier.
  • Smart Extrude Enhancements: Smart Extrude allows for a partial cut-through on an Editable Poly object.
  • Pen Tablet Pressure Enhancements: Brush pressure from an external tablet device's pen is properly captured by 3ds Max.
  • UV Editor Window: The UV Editor window size is now adaptive to the user's screen resolution, and features a higher-resolution black and white checker map.
  • Symmetry Modifier: The Symmetry modifier's welding algorithms have been updated to provide even more predictable results by finding matching pairs of vertices on the mirrored surface. The tolerance threshold now enables welding to solve across open gaps along the symmetry line.
  • Multiple Fixes, and more!
