Autodesk Launches Bifrost for Maya 2.7.1

The latest release of Bifrost for Maya brings improved support for various Maya features, including Component Tags, voxel smoothing, volume rendering, and USD workflows.

Autodesk has released Bifrost for Maya 2.7.1, the most recent edition of the multiphysics plugin designed for Maya. This latest release brings significant improvements, such as enhanced support for Maya's Component Tags, refined voxel smoothing, advanced volume rendering capabilities, and streamlined USD workflows.

Among the most notable changes is the addition of Component Tags support – tags are now incorporated during the importation of geometry into the Bifrost graph and the transformation of an output mesh to a Maya mesh.

In addition, Bifrost for Maya 2.7.1 introduces several new graph nodes, including the mesh_scope node. This node enables the visualization of data on the points, faces, and vertices of a mesh and serves as a valuable tool for identifying and troubleshooting mesh-related issues.

The latest version of Bifrost for Maya also includes updates to existing features. For instance, the smooth_voxel_property node has been improved to allow users to choose between Gaussian, mean, or median smoothing, and set the number of iterations to be used.

Additionally, the viewport rendering of volumes in Bifrost for Maya 2.7.1 has been enhanced to deliver faster, more accurate, and more stable results. Also, the translation of volumes can now be skipped when there are no changes to the volume, such as when working with paused simulation graphs during editing.

Bifrost for Maya 2.7.1 brings notable improvements to the USD workflow. It introduces a new scene_info node, which allows users to return the location of the current file while working with relative paths, as well as two nodes for managing USD attributes.

Moreover, the latest update also includes several user experience improvements in the graph, such as the ability to detach a watchpoint from its connection wire.
