Awesome Movie-Quality Godzilla Cinematic Made in Unreal Engine 5

Josh Toonen provided some behind-the-scenes details about the project.

Josh Toonen, a professional VFX Artist and Filmmaker has revisited his and Jonathan Abenhaim's incredible Godzilla cinematic, first unveiled back in April, inviting aspiring Unreal Engine 5 users to join a new, soon-to-be-conducted free masterclass explaining how to set up Hollywood-level films in UE5.

For those unfamiliar, the cinematic in question was set up as part of a challenge in just one week using Control Rig, Unreal's built-in animation toolset for rigging and animating characters directly in the engine. The cinematic's explosions, sparks, and other visual effects were added in Nuke, and the entire thing was rendered, lit, and finalized with the addition of a miniature Hong Kong and its inhabitants in Unreal Engine 5.

In his upcoming masterclass, set to be held this Thursday, June 27, 7 PM EST, John will discuss the intricacies of filmmaking in UE5, demonstrate tons of beginner-friendly techniques that will make your films feel lifelike, reveal secret VFX techniques used by Hollywood studios, and much more. You can join the masterclass 100% free of charge by clicking this link.

We also highly recommend visiting Josh's YouTube channel, filled to the brim with comprehensive guides on filmmaking in Unreal Engine 5.
