CES 2022: Panasonic Announces Its VR Glasses MeganeX

The device is promised to weigh approximately 250 grams.

At CES 2022, Shiftall Inc, a subsidiary of Panasonic, has announced the soon arrival of its long-awaited VR headset called MeganeX. The headset appears to be the first consumer iteration of the device that was shown by Panasonic back in 2020. The main distinctive feature of these VR glasses is the weight. According to the specification, MeganeX will weigh approximately 250g (8.8oz). The company comments, that this incredible result has been achieved through "thorough miniaturization and weight reduction."

  • Display: 1.3inch Micro OLED 5.2K (2,560x2,560 per eye) 10bit HDR/120Hz
  • Tracking system: 6DoF, camera-based inside-out head tracking
  • Connection: Display Port Alternate Mode on USB-C or Display Port + USB2.0
  • Foldable frame with built-in speakers

The company has also stated that the headset supports SteamVR via a USB connection, with support of other platforms coming out soon. More information about the controller will be available before the launch.
