Check Out Warhammer Space Marine Animated in Blender

Ali Hoff showcased this artwork on Reddit and shared some technical details of creating it.

Take a look at this Blender animation of a Warhammer Space Marine created by a talented 3D Artist Ali Hoff. 

The creator shared some technical details about creating the artwork in the comments. For instance, the character's helmet consists of several parts, which facilitates its creation according to the artist. The challenges included balancing the armor, as the creator wanted to make the character look in control of the weapon rather than bouncing it.

A diffuse shader to RGB was used to define the shadow. Then, this was used as a factor to mix the shader's color with the same color, combined with plugging a Hue/Saturation node and mixing set to color with a touch of blue to get the shadows on one input. According to the artist, this method allows for having a pattern or a texture rather than a flat color. As for the highlight, the creator used a glossy shader to RGB and a lighter color to the main one.

Speaking of Warhammer, the sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine was first announced in 2021 and launched on September 9. It has already attracted two million players and become "the fastest selling game", as Tim Willits, CCO at Saber Interactive, describes it.
