Class-Action Lawsuit Over Cyberpunk 2077 Is Settled for $1.85 Million

CD Projekt RED will pay $1.85 million to the group of investors but will not be required to admit to any of the suit’s allegations.

CD Projekt RED will have to pay $1.85 million to settle charges from investors who filed a class action lawsuit against the company in 2021.

The lawsuit that was filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California two years ago alleged that CDPR misled investors over Cyberpunk 2077 – in particular, the investors complained that the game was "virtually unplayable" on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles when it launched and that the studio didn't disclose it to them.

Prior to this, CD Projekt RED also received a similar lawsuit from the Rosen Law firm.

As PCGamesN reports, citing Law360, CDPR has now reached a settlement under the terms of which it will pay $1.85 million to the group of investors. At the same time, the company will not be required to admit to any of the suit’s allegations.

Released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 indeed had a rocky launch as the game initially had a number of bugs, glitches, and performance issues. However, now the game managed to win fans' love back.

With the release of the Edgerunners anime and patch 1.6, Cyberpunk 2077 saw a huge wave of popularity, and the game's sales significantly boosted CD Projekt's revenues. In November 2022,  CD Projekt reported that its Q3 was the best quarter in the company's history all thanks to Cyberpunk 2077's newfound commercial success.
