Cookie Cutter: Hand-Drawn Metroidvania with a Techno-Pop-Punk Twist

Play as an android on a quest to save her creator and destroy anyone who gets in her way.

Rogue Games released an announcement trailer for Cookie Cutter – a techno-pop-punk 2D hand-drawn Metroidvania set in a dystopian world.

Play as Cherry, a rage-driven android with a mortal soul, on a quest to rescue her creator and the love of her life Doctor Shinji Fallon from a deranged mastermind. Expect deep combat mechanics, a huge retraversal world to explore, a robust character upgrade system, and buckets of blood.

"Cookie Cutter is a weird, wild, fun-as-hell ride of a Metroidvania. It’s got all the staples of the genre. A massive world. Loads of insane enemies and boss fights. A twisted narrative. And it’s freakin’ beautiful," said Rogue CEO Matt Casamassina. "But it’s also got a heroine who defies video game conventions in the best of ways and it’s a title unabashedly made for older players."

The game promises to deliver the depth, platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat that Metroidvania fans expect from the genre. Weird enemies, ever-evolving gameplay mechanics, over-the-top characters, rich environments, and "whacked-out" dialogue are waiting for you in this unusual experience inspired by Japanese manga, Quentin Tarantino films, and H.P. Lovecraft.

Cookie Cutter is set to be released in 2023. Wishlist it on Steam to get the latest news and don't forget to join our new Reddit pageour new Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we are sharing breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
