Jess Cliffe, the co-creator of Counter-Strike and a game designer from Valve Corporation, was arrested this Thursday for sexual exploitation of a child. Police did not release any details, and Cliffe was not charged with a crime.
It is yet unknown if an actual child was harmed. It is worth noting that Cliffe does not have a criminal history. Jail records show he was booked at 1:17 a.m. into the King County Jail. He will have a bail hearing Friday afternoon.
Cliffe co-created the original Counter-Strike with Minh Le while studying at Virginia Tech. He also is known as the voice of Counter-Strike for the legendary phrase “Counter-Terrorists Win!”. Cliffe has also worked on level design for Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Left4Dead 2, and Portal 2,
Valve states it has suspended Jess, stating: “We are still learning details of what actually happened. Reports suggest he has been arrested for a felony offense. As such we have suspended his employment until we know more.”
