Creating a Realistic Sci-Fi Environment with Substance Painter and UE5

Leonardo Betancur, a 3D Environment & Prop Artist, unveiled a tutorial that covers decal techniques, trimsheet workflows, and material creation inside Unreal Engine.

In this course, you will learn how to create a realistic sci-fi environment. The learning process is divided into 6 stages, in each of them the mentor will show the specific workflows used for the production of the necessary elements to make the environment. The course includes 39 hours of content that covers the techniques for speeding up your work in Blender, Adobe Substance 3D Painter, Marmoset Toolbag, and Unreal Engine 5.

You'll start with modeling geomeshes, diving deep into modularity, modifiers in Blender, modeling tools, and non-destructive modeling. Then you'll apply FWN and create trimsheet. The 4th lesson covers decal placing, exporting setup, decal atlas, and texturing packing.

The last two parts of the tutorial are dedicated to the material and environment creation process with a focus on lighting, fog, post-process volume, and rendering.
