Cyberpunk 2077 Head of Animation Will Be Directing the New Witcher Saga

"Raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for."

Cyberpunk 2077 head of animation Sebastian Kalemba shared that he will be directing the new The Witcher trilogy. "Since joining CD PROJEKT RED I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for," he said on Twitter.

Kalemba joined CD PROJEKT RED as Lead Animator in 2014 and then became Head of Animation and later – Creative Director. He was responsible for the Animation team on Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.

There is not a lot known about the new saga: the first game of the series, codenamed Polaris, is the one that was announced back in March and has since entered the pre-production phase. Two other The Witcher games are developed by external studios. According to CD Projekt, The Witcher Sirius will differ from all the previous games in the series, "offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience."

Earlier, President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński said The Witcher 4 is still early in development and we shouldn't expect the game to come before 2025 or even 2026.

The company is also working on an original role-playing game codenamed Hadar. Currently, the team is still working on basic concepts and "laying the groundwork for this new franchise".

Last week, CD PROJEKT RED announced that The Witcher remake is currently in the works by a Polish studio Fool’s Theory.
