Digital Dragons shared a talk by Senior Sound Designer Daniel Birczynski on the challenges behind the sound design of the latest God of War. The game needed a new sound palette that would perfectly capture the spirit of Nordic mythology and that’s wasn’t an easy task. What is more, the sound had to contribute to brutal fights and emotional moments. Let’s learn about the team’s approach.

Sony Santa Monica posed a great challenge for sound engineers when creating the last edition of the game “God of War”. The game settled in Nordic mythology includes 40 hours of play time!

The producers wanted to hear a new sound palette, different from previous editions of God Of War. Kratos appears in the new mythology and environment, fights new opponents and most importantly appears in the company of a new character: his own son.

Senior Sound Designer Daniel Birczynski worked on two editions and remastering of God Of War, discovered many technical and creative issues. He will share his experience, analyze logistic, artistic and technical solutions.
