Gamers spent a lot of money on games last year,
SuperData's latest year in review report states that digital games spending grew 12% year-over-year in 2020 and generated $127 billion in total across mobile, PC, and console.
Mobile platforms generated $73.8 billion, consoles reached $19.7 billion, and PC generated $33.1 billion. The report also states gaming video content generated $9.3 billion, while XR spending brought in $6.7 billion.
The biggest part of the sum goes to free-to-play games which generated $98.4 billion (78% of the total $127 billion).
Premium games also grew 28% year-over-year thanks to sales of Doom Eternal, The Last of Us Part 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and other successful games.
