Director of Chappie Neill Blomkamp is Working on a AAA Project

Blomkamp joined Gunzilla Games as Chief Visionary Officer to help them with their unrevealed multiplayer shooter.

Neil Blomkamp, a Director of Elysium, Chappie, and District 9, has joined Gunzilla Games as Chief Visionary Officer, IGN reports. He'll help guide the aesthetic of the game and provide input on aspects such as design, audio, and the narrative from a film director's perspective. He admitted that he hasn't worked in game development before, so collaborating closely with other key creatives on the project will be crucial.

Gunzilla Games was formed last year and employs developers from such giants as Crytek, Ubisoft, and EA.

"The difference [from directing a film] is not acting like a single point that guides the creative team. It's making sure that you're integrated into the team in a real way," Blomkamp told IGN. "I can come in with a very definitive point of view, but it has to work on two levels. It has to be accepted by the greater team as the right creative direction to go in. And it also has to be, first and foremost, something that can integrate into the architecture of gameplay in a way that's beneficial to the game."
