The goal is to replace other playback systems in the studio's workflows to let artists review shots, edits, and grades in a single, unified toolset.
DNEG announced xSTUDIO, its "modern, flexible and feature-rich playback and review application designed to meet the needs of filmmakers throughout the production process". Currently, in development, the tool is said to replace other playback systems in the studio's workflows to let artists review shots, edits, and grades in a single, unified toolset.
Described as heavily customizable, the tool can be used "as a stand-alone player or expanded and integrated into any pipeline via the plugin and Python scripting APIs." The best news is that DNEG plans to open-source the project later in 2022.
