NHK WORLD-JAPAN has an amazing documentary on 10 years of Hayao Miyazaki and the work behind The Wind Rises. Let’s have a look.

This is a 4-part in an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at legendary Japanese animator and director Hayao Miyazaki. For a decade, he has been creating animated films that made us believe again and again that there’s magic somewhere in this world.

At age 72, the master decided to take on a new challenge — the highly-acclaimed “The Wind Rises” (2013), which became Miyazaki’s first film about a historical figure. The whole journey behind the film was actually a long and difficult one which led Miyazaki to questions about issues like aging, the meaning of making animated films in a turbulent time, and more.

Each 5o-minute part will steal your attention, believe us. The documentary is available here.
