Let the Games Begin: Recreate Your Childhood Gaming Space in the Latest NVIDIA Omniverse Contest
Take a journey to the past and show us where your passion for gaming and computer graphics started — join the new NVIDIA Omniverse Enter the Retroverse: A Graphics Flashback design contest and experience the latest technologies in graphics.
For this challenge, participants must recreate the gaming space from their past. Whether it’s a desk, a bed, or even the floor — show us the space that ignited your excitement for gaming or computer graphics. Design an entire room, or build a close-up scene with incredible details.
Creators must assemble their scene in Omniverse, the groundbreaking platform for accelerating 3D production pipelines. The 3D space must be designed in a retro style from the 80s, 90s, or 2000s.
Explore the next generation of tools in Omniverse, such as Pixar's Universal Scene Description (USD), Material Design Language (MDL), and NVIDIA RTX real-time ray-tracing. Assemble your retro scene using any Connector or 3D software, such as Adobe, Autodesk, Blender, Epic Games, or Reallusion, and create the final render in Omniverse Create.

NVIDIA is collaborating with TurboSquid by Shutterstock, a leading 3D marketplace, to provide pre-made assets of retro consoles and computers. Creators can use a maximum of three free assets sponsored by TurboSquid to build and design their scenes. Feel free to re-texture the assets, or even model the classic consoles or PCs from scratch using any design application.
- The deadline to submit the final render is October 26, 2021.
- Contestants must provide one hero still image as their final entry, but can submit up to five images that highlight elements such as lighting variations or different angles, or specific assets within the scene.
- The final entry needs to include a final high-res image, plus the final source files, including the USD file and the source file from the 3D application used.
Entries will be judged on various criteria, including the use of Omniverse Create, the quality of the final render, and overall originality.
The winners of the contest will be announced at the NVIDIA GTC conference in November. The top three entries will receive an NVIDIA RTX A6000, GeForce RTX 3090, and GeForce RTX 3080 GPU, respectively.
