Participate in the challenge and win cool prizes by creating scenes in Unreal Engine.

Epic Games has announced the new Unreal Challenge for lighting artists, Better Light Than Never. The contest is open to creatives from all over the world and is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate your abilities in lighting art and explore how Lumen’s dynamic lighting can embellish your scene.

To participate, you should submit a short video inspired by the theme of the challenge – Better Light Than Never. The video has to show off your Unreal Engine lighting skills. The video should be between 10 and 30 seconds long, with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080. Create your scene in Unreal Engine solely, without using any other additional software or post-production tools. Don't forget to credit your sources, if you use any pre-made assets. Submit your work to this forum, in Better Light Than Never category.

The winning entries will be chosen across two groups: individuals and outstanding students or new developers. The Grand Prize winner will get $1,000 and receive some other cool prizes from KitBash3D and Sketchfab. Contestants who will take the first and the second place will also receive some special rewards.

The contest starts today, at 2 p.m. EDT. You can watch Better Light Than Never kick-off on YouTube or Twitch where a couple of industry superstars will share some cool tips and tricks on the lighting process and demonstrate some of their best practices.
