Epic Games Kicks Off Its Animation Week

The company's week-long event introduces a new free guide that delves into creating animation using Unreal Engine and showcases new tools, workflows, and resources in the Epic Games ecosystem.

On Monday, Epic Games kicked off its Animation Week which will be held until July 1. As a part of its week-long event, the company introduced its free Animation Field Guide which contains over 100 pages of industry insights from more than 30 artists, producers, and pipeline experts.

The Animation Filed Guide features interviews with industry experts from such companies as Sony Pictures Imageworks, BRON Digital, Reel FX, Spire Animation Studios, and other top studios and will help you delve into creating animation in real-time using Unreal Engine.

In the guide, you'll learn the foundations of real-time animation pipelines with Unreal Engine and find out how the industry evolved from a traditional, linear pipeline to real-time pipelines that allowed departments to collaborate seamlessly and gave them more creative freedom.

Apart from the Animation Field Guide, Animation Week program introduced a number of free resources for artists including a new behind-the-scenes look into MetaHuman and Unreal Engine's use in creating the Love, Death + Robots "In Vaulted Halls Entombed" episode.   

In addition, the week celebrates notable achievements in real-time animation by established filmmakers, independent studios as well as artists worldwide. Among the featured projects are Malanca, built entirely in the cloud from Untold Studios, a Diablo Immortal promo produced in real-time by Impossible Objects, Mush-Mush & the Mushables from La Cabane, the trailer premiere for the animated short film Blue Preymaker, and highlights from Epic Games' Annecy presentations.

Animation Week will also demonstrate mastery of Epic Games' tools, workflows, and products including MetaHuman, Quixel Megascans, UE Marketplace, and an array of free learning resources available to creators.
