Epic Games Launches New Virtual Production Skills-Building Program

Epic introduced Unreal Connectors, a new skill-building training program for those who are interested in developing in virtual production.

Epic Games presented Unreal Connectors, a new skill-building training program for those who are interested in developing in virtual production. The new program will provide a shortened version of the Unreal Fellowship which was first launched in July of 2020 being designed to help industry specialists in film, animation, and VFX learn Unreal Engine.

Based on the Unreal Fellowship curriculum, Unreal Connectors will offer pre-recorded content, guest lecturers, and mentorship, as well as include a capstone where participants will be able to get a first-hand experience in virtual production.

Epic notes that the program is offered exclusively through participating Unreal Authorised Training and Unreal Academic Partners.

Unreal Connectors will feature a flexible and customizable course structure and deliver localized training and time zone options enabling the participants to connect with regional instructors and global industry networks. At launch, the companies that offer the Unreal Connectors program include Butic (Spain), CG Spectrum (US), CGPro (US), Ecole NAD-UQAC (Canada), Escape Studios (London), IN-CAS (Germany), Prometeo-Lab (Italy), Skyup Academy (Italy), UT-Hub (Spain), and Objectif 3D (France).

"Adoption of Unreal Engine has exploded in virtual production pipelines and the demand for UE talent is growing every day," said Director of Unreal Engine Education Julie Lottering. "The Unreal Fellowship has made a significant impact on animators and film industry creatives as they adapt their skills into real-time workflows. There has been a huge success rate of employing graduates from the Fellowship into top studios, and we look forward to making that training more accessible with Unreal Connectors."
