Extended Tutorial: How to Make Stylized 3D Character

Bohloul Belarak, a 3D Lead Character Artist, in collaboration with Wingfox school has revealed a new tutorial, covering the creation process of stylized characters. 

This 31-hours course covers the workflow of 3D character artists. The mentor will guide you through the creation process of detailed stylized characters for games and cinematics and will make you feel familiar with ZBrush, Adobe 3D Substance Painter, Maya, Marvelous Designer, and TopoGun. 

The course is prepared and mentored by Bohloul Belarak, a 3D Character and Texture Artist, equipped with more than 5 years of experience in creating high-quality 3D characters from start to finish. This process can include researching design concepts, creating conceptual art, drawing storyboards, and touching up animations, as well as rendering, texturing, lighting, and shading graphics. Bohloul has contributed to PUBG mobile, Rise of kingdom, SAMO, Diablo Immortal, Lord of the Rings game, Attack of titan game, etc.

Core points of the course

1. Reference Gathering: At the beginning of the course, the mentor will explain the process of creating a concept, main features to pay attention to while choosing the concept.

2. Modeling and Sculpting: In this step, you will start sculpting in ZBrush with the main focus on forms, body, and face proportions. You will review the silhouette of the character from different angles. 

3. Retopology and UV: After that, the mentor will show you how to make the process faster in TopoGun. You will learn how to unwrap the UV efficiently. The mentor will demonstrate how to divide different parts into separate UV tiles. 

4. Texturing: This part will be completed in Adobe 3D Substance Painter with a focus on the face and hands. 

5. Hair Grooming: During this part, you will be guided through the general information about human hair and the workflow of grooming in Xgen. 

6. Rendering and Look Development: Finally the mentor will explain how to bring the render shots from different angles to Photoshop, push them forward in 2D space and apply them to the model, shader, etc.
