SpongeBob SquarePants: The Spongy Construction Project is no longer Roblox-only.
Have you heard of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Spongy Construction Project, a fan-made MMORPG created in Roblox? Well, you're about to get to know it a bit more as the game is moving to the Godot engine.
The Spongy Construction Project lets you play as one of the eight main characters of the TV show, each with unique animations and costumes. You can explore recognizable locations, like The Krusty Krab, Bikini Bottom, and Sandy's Treedome, and have fun with Bubble Wand and Trident. The developers promise more mini-games in the future.
The development of the Roblox version has been abandoned in favor of building it in Godot, "reworked from the ground up," with new animations, cleaner models, updated lighting, and more features.
Here are the differences:
- Revamped lighting; removed fog and blue tint
- Sand now has more variation; subtle lines to represent brush strokes, as well as faint patches of cyan tinted sand have been placed around the ground
- Redone skybox with cloud wiggle
- Built in a different engine, meaning new movement physics such as floatier jumps
- Completely redone Conch Street map
- Updated model and rig for SpongeBob, including brand new animations
- Updated model for Squidward's house
- There are no longer bubbles coming out of SpongeBob's chimney
