On December 18, 1987, the very first Final Fantasy has been released on Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicon console. Hironobu Sakaguchi thought it would be his last game, but the the title was so successful that the developer had to release tons of sequels on every gaming platform.

Square, the team that developed the first game, is now known as Square Enix, and the studio has since revealed 14 other main Final Fantasy games, and a series of spin-off games and crossover titles.

The team is celebrating the title’s 30th anniversary with a series of items, including T-shirts, discounted Final Fantasy titles, plush dolls, some themed ballpoint pens and more.

Well, I guess it’s safe to say that it’s just the beginning, so we’ll be waiting for new Final Fantasy games.
