Former Blizzard & Epic Developers Formed Lightforge Games Studio

The new studio aims to create a new way to play role-playing games.

A group of former Game Developers from Epic Games and Blizzard Entertainment announced the creation of a new studio – Lightforge Games. The CEO of the new studio Matt Schembari claims that the intent is "to combine elements from Minecraft or Roblox with tabletop RPGs to form a new way to play role-playing games."

The studio has received $5 million in investment from several investors, including Galaxy Interactive, NetEase Games, Dreamhaven, and Maveron. The team consists of Schembari, Studio Director Nathan Fairbanks, Engineering Director Dan Hertzka, Art Director Glenn Rane, Product Director Marc Hutcherson, and 5 extra developers that were hired.

"We want to blur the line between creator and player, bringing people together to weave endless tales they won't soon forget," says the team.
