Simon Thommes has recently released B’rn which is a free volumetric fire shader ready for animation. This goodie for Blender will let you create a fully volumetric fire with several options without any kinds of simulation.

Setup

1. Apply shader to a cube-like object

The file is built for Blender 2.8, but you can append the shader into 2.79 files as well.
