Except the dude clearly doesn't know much of anything about the 3D game pipeline. Yeah, if you're very skilled, a high poly sculpt could, certainly. But then there's retopology, UV mapping, texture baking, rigging, animating, other means of optimization once imported into the engine. Granted it wouldn't take anywhere near the production time of a AAA character (Which the High-poly sculpt took maybe 10-15 hours altogether, but the finished character took ~94 hours). And granted pokemon models aren't nearly as complex as that, but I think at least a 1-3 hours from start to finish to be a fair average expectancy of artists who know the work flow well enough. I just hate how people are so critical of artists when they clearly don't understand what goes into it.
On December 2-4, 2016 in Kyiv there will be held game developers conference Game Gathering. During three days, there will be 32 lectures and 6 professional contests, called game-battles, both for beginners and experienced game-developers. This will be a great opportunity to attend lectures by experienced professionals on various issues of project development, game-design, programming development, QA, marketing and other important issues. All lecturers are highly experienced in game development industry and participated in creation of successful projects within such outstanding companies as Wargaming, Epic Games, Crytek, 4A Games, Red Beat, ERS Games Studio, etc.
The unique feature of the Conference attracting both industry experts and beginning developers shall be 6 Game-battles in the area of art and game-design. Game battle essentially means a 2-3 hours competition in a given area, where competitors shall receive individual challenges evaluating their professional level. Each and every game battle will be facilitated by an experienced professional who is responsible for the development of the assignments. Winners of the battle will receive valuable prizes. Game battles shall become a wonderful chance to hang out and exchange professional experience with colleagues from various areas of the industry and receive feedback from experts. We are expecting at least 800 participants and more than 90 Ukrainian and foreign game development companies to attend the Games Gathering Conference.
