Lovely work ! You mentioned "When lighting the scene, I used Light Functions to create the illusion of light passing through clouds, thus lighting the environment unevenly" do you think you could show what is the setup to get such a precise result ?(meaning highlight the area you want?)

Amazing art. I'm curious how the rocks manage to be such a natural part of the terrain! It really looks like they have been there for ages.

Gnomon's Lecture on Destruction in VFX
26 August, 2016

On September 1st Gnomon’s VFX Education lead Wayne Hollingsworth will give a 30-minute demonstration of destruction and fluid simulation techniques inside Houdini and Maya.

Gnomon strikes yet again with a very interesting lecture about the way you should work with VFX. Wayne Hollingsworth got into professional VFX in 2009 right after college. He worked for a number of big companies: A52, Luma Pictures, Psyop, Digital Domain, Gravity, Blockhead VFX, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Blur Studio, Pixomondo, and most recently Zoic Studios. he did both ads and films, so he does have a lot of knowledge to share with the world.

In this particular talk he’ll stop on his two favorite topics: Fluid Dynamics and Destructions Simulations. You can check out his showreel to learn what to expect (it’s pretty awesome).

The best thing is that you don’t have to travel to LA to witness this talk. All you have to do is go online and check out the livestream. Plus it will all be recorded and shared, so you can check it out later down the road.
