Godot 3.2 Alpha 1 Available

The Godot team released Godot 3.2 Alpha 1 which adds a number of improvements. Let's have a look at the update. 

The new version brings more updates to the visual shader editor. First, there's support for a drag-and-drop workflow: the update adds a tree-based pop-up from which nodes can be dragged in. You can also cut and paste nodes, delete multiple nodes at once.

What is more, there are new node types; mathematical functions, Boolean operators, greyscale and sepia render effects, and more. The team states that it is now easier to go from the graph to shader code using a new Expression node which makes it possible to write code directly within the graph.

The update also adds support for convex decomposition using the VHACD algorithm generating more accurate collision meshes from 3D objects. The engine now uses the Open Asset Import Library (Assimp) to import scenes, providing support for common 3D file formats, including FBX and glTF. 

Godot’s 2D toolset has also been updated, reinstating support for 2D texture atlases, plus a new 3D layer system that will help you create pseudo-3D effects within 2D games.
