Godot Engine Is Now Available Via Epic Games Store

EGS' Godot build will be "the exact same open source release as on other platforms".

The Godot Engine team has announced that their open-source game engine Godot is now available via Epic Games Store.

According to a brief statement shared by the team, the Epic Games Store's Godot build won't be in any way different from the open-source releases available on other platforms, being the exact same as the Steam version or the one present on Godot's GitHub repo. As noted by the developers, the availability of the engine on multiple storefronts provides a new and convenient way for a larger number of users to discover it and "begin their game development journey".

"We are excited to continue our friendship with Epic Games and to be published on the Epic Games Store," reads Godot's announcement. "We believe this will bring new opportunities for growth and development for Godot and its community. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing what you create!"

Furthermore, the announcement highlighted the relationship between Epic Games and Godot, noting that the former's support enabled the team to improve their rendering pipeline and built-in scripting language GDScript in the recently-released Godot 4.0.
