Granite SDK 3.0 is out!

The new version of the SDK includes a major redesign of the layer and caching systems, performance optimizations, more efficient video memory usage, and a smaller size on disk.

Graphics middleware company Graphine today announced the launch of Granite SDK 3.0, the new release of its texture streaming middleware for high-quality real-time visualization and games. It includes a major redesign of the layer and caching systems, performance optimizations, more efficient video memory usage, and a smaller size on disk. You can find more detailed information here.

Granite SDK 3.0 is a major update from Granite SDK 2.6 and a significant redesign that prepares Granite for the future. The upgrade gives artists total material freedom. It also contains many optimizations that make Granite – already the most advanced and optimized streaming system – even faster.

Granite SDK 3.0 is an efficient texture streaming system for any texture data in video game scenes with high pixel density. It perfectly streams 2K, 4K, 8K, 16K textures up to 256K, minimizing the video memory needed to less than 1GB.
It removes loading times while allowing hundreds of PBR materials, huge material masks or massive lightmaps. Granite SDK 3.0 is available as a stand-alone SDK that can integrate into any game engine and as a plugin for Unreal Engine 4 and Unity 3D.

Here’s a great blogpost from Epic on how to use Granite with UE4.
