Headcrab Lamarr Made for Half-Life 2 RTX

Zhelong Xu used ZBrush, Blender, and Substance 3D Painter for the project.

While you are waiting for Half-Life 2 RTX, the community-made ray-traced remaster of Valve's shooter from Orbifold Studios and NVIDIA, you might be interested in some assets from the game.

If there is one instantly recognizable creature in the game, it's definitely a Headcrab. Digital artist Zhelong Xu has demonstrated what Isaac Kleiner's pet Headcrab Lamarr will look like when the RTX version launches.

Xu used ZBrush, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, TopoGun, and RizomUV to perfect the little monster.

"While keeping as much as possible consistent with the original silhouette, I redesigned the details in ZBrush, completed the high-poly model, and then manually retopology, UVs, until finally completing the texture production in Substance 3D Painter. As you can see, I have added a lot of details."

The Headcrab is meatier now for sure, terrifying and disturbingly cute at the same time.

Xu's ability to switch between scary huge creatures and sweet tiny ceramic animals is fantastic on its own. You can find more of their works on ArtStation.
