High on Life Is Now Officially the Biggest Game Pass Launch of 2022

It is also the biggest third-party launch in Game Pass history and the biggest single-player game launch on the subscription service ever.

Squanch Games' comedic biopunk first-person shooter High on Life is now officially the biggest Xbox Game Pass launch of 2022.

Earlier, it was noticed that the game became the most popular game on Game Pass beating Minecraft, Lego Star Wars, and Forza Horizon 5. And now, Microsoft officially confirmed that the title has become the biggest Game Pass release of the year.

In addition, the company noted that High on Life is also the biggest third-party launch in the history of Xbox's subscription service as well as the biggest single-player game launch on Game Pass ever.

Microsoft hasn't revealed any specific numbers only saying that these results are based on the calculation of the number of hours played in the first five days of the game's release.

For those unaware, High on Life is the new title from Squanch Games, the studio co-founded by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and Tanya Watson, a former executive producer at Epic Games. It is a funny and absurd space odyssey, the most noticeable feature of which is the main character's extraordinary companions – charismatic talking guns.

The game was released on December 13 and received a pretty warm reception – its user score on Metacritic is currently 7.8 out of 10 for PC and 8.2 for Xbox

Taking into account the game's success on Xbox, some, including analyst Benji-Sales, believe that it would be wise for Microsoft to team up with Squanch Games and launch the High on Life sequel together making the game an Xbox/Game Pass exclusive.
