Bernat Martinez will guide you through every step of preparing a digital dinner.
This incredibly chaotic sequence of cooking spaghetti and meatballs is the result of months of hard work by Bernat Martinez, who had a blast while tackling the challenges of bringing it to life. The attention to detail is fantastic, like the moment when the meatballs fly off the tray and land back in or the messy way the ingredients fall onto the pan.
It would be great to learn more about how everything came together, but in the meantime, you can check out some behind-the-scenes shots on Bernat's Instagram.
The artist shared that for the chopping animation, he modeled the food with all the cuts already in place and then simply disabled the nConstraint holding each piece right at the moment of the chop. That way, the pieces fall apart naturally when the knife hits.
No motion capture was used, instead, Bernat employed a mouse movement recording script to sketch out the animation, then refined it with multiple animation layers.
