SideFX has finally unveiled the feature list of the upcoming Houdini 18.
The biggest feature of Houdini 18 is Solaris, a new system meant for layout, lookdev, and lighting which presents huge possibilities for artists.
The toolkit allows artists with less technical skills to use Houdini as a look dev and layout tool, relying on a non-destructive drag-and-drop workflow. The presentation shows that the new toolset is extremely artist-friendly, so Houdini is truly becoming a tool for everyone.
The new version will also bring updates to Vellum, fluids, pyro, destruction, and modeling. Make sure to watch the full presentation.
Houdini 18.0 is said to be launched in late 2019. SideFX hasn’t revealed any pricing changes.
