Houdini: SideFX Labs Gets An Edge Smooth Tool

Check out a cool new tool by Simon Verstraete.

Simon Verstraete shared a look at a cool new small tool called Edge Smooth. This tool allows you to smooth edge groups provided to the tool, and relax the neighbors around it to produce smooth edges. Let's say you're cutting a sphere asymmetrically – the tool will detect the new edges and smooth them for a nice clean look.

For those of you not familiar with SideFX Labs, it is a completely free, open-source toolset that helps Houdini users save time on a variety of tasks. The team describes it as an all-inclusive toolset that spans the shelf, digital assets, custom desktops, and scripts. The toolset is currently managed by Paul Ambrosiussen and Mai Ao. The toolset evolved from the GameDevelopmentToolset, which got a re-launch in the Houdini 18.0 release.
